UNHRC
Established in 1946, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) serves as one of the world’s most important intergovernmental bodies dedicated to the protection and advancement of fundamental human rights across all nations and regions. The UNHRC works to hold governments accountable, amplify the voices of the oppressed, and strengthen regulations to work against human rights violations. In this committee, delegates will confront two of the most defining crises of our time: the rights of refugees in the face of armed conflict, and how mass surveillance impacts the right to privacy in the digital age.

NATO

Avatar The Last Airbender: Order of the White Lotus
This committee drops delegates into one of the most critical moments in Avatar: The Last Airbender. The Order of the White Lotus is a secret society. Its members are masters from all four nations. They’ve gathered outside Ba Sing Se, just after the Fire Nation seized the city. Sozin’s Comet is coming, Avatar Aang is preparing to face Fire Lord Ozai, and the Order faces a hard choice: keep their centuries of secrecy, or step into the war out in the open. Here, delegates don’t represent countries. Instead, each plays a single White Lotus member—Iroh, Bumi, Pakku, Piandao, Jeong Jeong, Suki, even the Cabbage Merchant. This is a hybrid crisis committee. Delegates debate, pass directives, and shape events as they unfold.
UNSC: Partition of India
The United Nations Security Council is the most powerful body in the United Nations. And now, it has been called to London to address the issues raging across the Indian subcontinent. Millions have died, and millions more have been displaced and are without access to basic supplies. Princely states have controversially acceded, leading to conflicts and uprisings. Gandhi has just been killed in one of the many riots terrorizing the region. Over 400 million people lie at the hands of the Council and its delegates. Everything is at stake.
CRISIS

The Future of Panem: 75th Hunger Games and Beyond
After the disastrous 75th Hunger Games, Rebel intervention has pushed Panem into a violent and polarized political climate. Rebels have started to gain credibility and influence, while citizens have started to recognize the formerly all-powerful, omnipotent Capitol as a formidable yet vulnerable force. Because of this instability and risk of backlash, President Snow had no choice but to call a summit between rebel and Capitol representatives to carefully plan the 76th games. Delegates will have to navigate these intense politics, whether advocating for the Rebels or the Capitol, as they meet to decide the fate of the 76th Hunger Games, and by extension, the future of Panem. May the odds be ever in your favor!

Stratton Oakmont (The Wolf of Wall Street)
Founded in 1989, Stratton Oakmont was a firm dedicated to one thing: the pursuit of quick cash. Currently at its peak between 1994 and 1995, the company straddles a thin line. One wrong step, and this house of cards built atop a sea of victims is liable to crumble. As a delegate, it will be your responsibility to decide Stratton Oakmont’s future. Will you bring the company down? Will you advocate for moral restructuring? Or will you help perpetuate this criminal enterprise? The decision is all yours!

1720 Pirate Republic of Nassau
It is the year 1720, and the Golden Age of Piracy is holding on by a thread. Nassau, once the most feared pirate republic in the Caribbean, is crumbling under the weight of British crackdowns, broken alliances, and betrayal from within. Delegates will take on the roles of the Republic’s most notorious pirates, the very men and women who built Nassau from the ground up. The open seas, your freedom, and the Republic itself are all on the line. Choose your allies wisely, for in Nassau, loyalty is the only currency that matters. Best of luck, and we’ll see you in committee!

Cuban Missile Crisis
In October of 1962, the Cuban Missile Crisis was one of the most dangerous and impactful confrontations during the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. After a U.S. reconnaissance aircraft confirmed the presence of Soviet nuclear missile installations in Cuba, President John F. Kennedy assembled a group of leaders known as ExComm. Each of the delegates will assume the roles of members of ExComm and have to work together to determine the appropriate response to this unprecedented crisis. In addition, they will be discussing the effectiveness and influence of nuclear weapons and how they shaped a balance of power throughout the Cold War.

It’s the 1920s in Chicago. What a time to be alive! The era is known for its bold new energy, with jazz, speakeasies, and flapper fashion bringing new life to Chicago, but behind the flashing lights and champagne, something brews in the shadows. You’re here to end this corruption. The future of Chicago is in your hands. Will you strive to restore order to the city, or will you trade justice for power and become one with the shadows?
